April fool’s Day

Hmmm. April Fool’s Day!

Ever wondered why and how April Fool’s Day began? No one knows for sure – there are several accounts – but some historians believe the custom began in 16th century France after a change in the calendar. With the shift from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, New Year’s Day was moved from April 1st to January 1st, and people who were slow to adopt this change were called “April fools” and had pranks played on them.

These pranks included having paper fish tapped to their backs and being referred to as “poisson d’avril” (April fish).

Were you fooled today? We hope you had a good laugh!

Best wishes (seriously),
