Raj is the Senior Counsel, Energy and Infrastructure at Dentons, London. He grew up in Malaysia and moved to London where he trained as a barrister and re-qualified as a solicitor. He has spent the last 25 years advising on private equity/infrastructure and utility projects in the oil and gas, power, transport (road and rail), water and waste sectors in UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa.
Raj has a real passion for the African continent and its development and has been involved in providing legal and strategic advise on African transactions for more than 10 years. He is an active member of Dentons’ Global Africa Group and has seen all sides of the transaction rubrix having advised corporates, PE houses, developers, sponsors, lenders and governments. His experience in Africa includes advising on power, oil and gas, rail, road, PPP and private equity transactions in Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia and Mozambique.
He is a frequent speaker/moderator/panelist on Africa related matters including private equity and energy and infrastructure/PPP projects in Africa. He writes a monthly column for Financial Nigeria/Nigeria Development Finance Forum on a variety of subjects relating to the development of the African continent.
Raj holds an LLB from the University of Warwick.
