Marie has over 20 years’ experience of operational, legal and compliance risk management in the global financial markets, with a specialist focus in the areas of debt capital markets, derivatives and securities, and new business development.
As a director, she brings to the firm – leadership, experience and qualifications that span legal and compliance roles at leading banking and financial institutions in Europe and Asia. Her practical knowledge of global financial markets stems from spearheading various interim executive management assignments in the European financial markets, including the establishment of corporate governance framework [Swiss re Capital Markets] and developing legal risk management structures for the derivative transactions of Goldman Sachs’s International energy finance group. Marie was also responsible for advising Citigroup on the implementation of new businesses in emerging & frontier market jurisdictions, and coordinated Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s cross-border balance sheet pooling arrangements, to meet regulatory requirements.
In 2007, Marie joined Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) as Chief Compliance Officer. In 2009, she served as the Francophone West African Managing Director of TAK Continental, an international agribusiness. While at TAK, she provided oversight for the company’s strategy and business development. In 2014, Marie moved to Nigeria to work as special adviser on a corporate restructuring project.
Marie holds a BA in Economics and Government from the University of Essex and a Postgraduate degree in Financial Economics from the University of Strathclyde. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1988.
